Tribute to Karim Manji

Dear Karim’s family, I am so desperately sorry to learn of this sad news. My deepest condolences to you all for your sudden loss. We were at Sidney Sussex together and we were in touch for a number of years after. I remember his first foray out of university was related to international development and making use of his law degree with an NGO which he’d found very motivating. He was never interested in converting his prestigious degree into any kind of lucrative route and I know that he found comfort in spiritual pursuits particularly after a tough gig of teaching Citizenship on the TeachFirst programme. He was a good friend in our formative years of young adulthood and reading his tributes it sounds like in many ways he was much the same. He cared about the people and world around him and you must be proud to have raised a good and decent person.
